The Environmental Footprint of the Finch Bus Fleet

As the Official Site Curator for Finch TTC Subway Station, we are committed to reducing our environmental footprint. In this blog post, we explore the transition to electric and hybrid buses at the hub and its impact on the environment.

The Finch Bus Fleet has been a staple of the North York community for decades, providing reliable transportation to thousands of commuters every day. However, as concern for the environment continues to grow, it has become increasingly important to assess the environmental footprint of our bus fleet.

In recent years, the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) has made a commitment to reducing its greenhouse gas emissions and transitioning to more sustainable modes of transportation. One key strategy in achieving this goal is the introduction of electric and hybrid buses to the fleet.

The benefits of electric and hybrid buses are numerous. Not only do they produce significantly fewer emissions than traditional diesel buses, but they also offer a quieter and smoother ride for passengers. Additionally, electric and hybrid buses require less maintenance than traditional buses, which can help to reduce costs and extend the lifespan of the vehicle.

At the Finch TTC Subway Station, we are proud to be at the forefront of this transition. Our bus fleet is currently undergoing a significant overhaul, with many of our traditional diesel buses being replaced with new electric and hybrid models.

This transition is not only good for the environment, but it is also good for our community. By reducing our reliance on fossil fuels and decreasing our emissions, we can help to improve air quality and create a healthier environment for everyone.

As we continue to move forward with this transition, we are committed to monitoring and evaluating the impact of our new bus fleet on the environment. We believe that by working together, we can create a more sustainable and environmentally-friendly transportation system that benefits our community for generations to come.
